Simple Defense is the name of a one-of-a-kind personal protection and self-defense system created by PSU founder, Steve Zorn. It's the first system to seamlessly integrate all aspects of self-defense into one easy-to-learn system. The result is a comprehensive system that can create a fully competent self-defense practitioner in a short period of time. This easy-to-learn system is suitable for women, men, and teens regardless of age, strength, or athletic ability.
This foundational module for the Simple Defense system covers the basic components of personal safety and self-defense to include; basic concepts, prevention, mental conditioning, escape strategies, verbal self-defense, flinch response theories, counters to common attacks, and more. Concluding with a univeral skill-set that can be used against almost every type of standing attack. Participants are then provided the opportunity to test their skill-set out on a live padded assailant.
Building on the first module this one takes you into the dangerous area of ground assaults, including the basics of dealing with an assailant that has knocked you to the ground. Then learn how the universal skill-set can be applied if you find yourself on the ground with an assailant on top of you.
This module builds onto the previous material. Learn the concept of "transference" and see how, with minor modification the universal skill-set applies to various weapon attacks. This module includes defense against edged weapons, impact weapons, firearms, and improvised items. Also, learn how the simple tactics work during ground weapon assaults.
This module takes everything covered in the first three modules and shows you how to apply the material to multiple assailant situations. Learn how to apply the universal skill-set to deal with 2, 3, 4 or more unarmed and armed assailants.
Using the concept of "transference", learn how the skills covered in previous modules can directly transfer to defensive use of common everyday items. This includes the practical application of various items, including; ink pens, pencils, flashlights, pocket-change, credit cards, combs and brushes, TV remotes, soda bottles, cell phones, parked cars, storefront windows, light posts, etc. With a little knowledge you are never unarmed!
This module provides you with a solid understanding of how to use pepper spray to effectively protect yourself. Unlike other pepper spray programs, Simple Defense integrates the use of empty-hand tactics to enhance the use of the spray. You'll also learn the simple tactics that assailants use to protect themselves against being sprayed and how these tactics can be countered.
This module teaches students how to use material from previous modules to effectively utilize various impact weapons for personal protection. Learn how to transfer all skills to standard batons, expandable batons, mini-batons, etc. Learn how to integrate empty-hands with the impact weapon and how to use it against multiple assailants and from the ground.
This module introduces you to the use of edged weapons for personal protection. Building on previous modules, you will learn how to effectively utilize edged weapons for life-threatening situations. Learn proper deployment, grips, and strikes as well as how to integrate empty-hand skills with the weapon and how all skills transfer to multiple attacker situations and ground assaults.
Learn how to integrate all skills with the effective use of the firearm. Learn how to safely and properly use handguns and shotguns to deal with life-threatening situations. Also, learn the effective art of using firearms as impact tools when they have been emptied and the situation does not allow for reloading or when the weapon malfunctions in the chaos of a close quarter assault. Simple retention tactics are also covered.
The final module is designed to prepare you to become a Master Instructor in the Simple Defense system. This means that qualified individuals will have the knowledge, skill, and experience to teach any of the previous 9 modules to others. Includes: learning and teaching theories, motor-skill research, survival stress reaction, psychology of self-defense, presentation skills, scenario development, use of the padded assailant, drill development, use of audio-visual aids, specialized presentations, and more.
